Staff support the individual to live their life how they wish to and enable them to have access to the community, whilst safely managing any challenging behaviour they may have. The number of staff in the placement must be sufficient to de-escalate any challenging behaviour should it arise. Intervention is only used when essential and when all other strategies have been unsuccessful. We will always use the least amount of intervention practicable in any given situation, and seek prior authorisation as and when necessary.
